[14 April 2022] LIVING WITH COVID-19: CONTINUANCE OF ON-CAMPUS CLASSES WITH SMM
The Multi-Ministry Taskforce has announced Singapore’s easing of Safe Management Measure as we embark on the national Living with COVID-19 plan. SEJONG will continue our on-campus classes, aligning our in-house Safe Management Measures with the government’s recently announced plans for Living with COVID-19 and the New Normal in Singapore.
Implementation of the National 1-2-3 PROTOCOL in SEJONG
The Government has announced that the protocols and procedures for testing and isolation of COVID-19 cases will be significantly simplified from 11 October 2021 and streamlined into three protocols. Please refer to the below table for a summary of how these will be translated into SEJONG’s in-house protocols:
If a student tests positive:
- Please refer to the government’s Health Protocols 1-2-3 (above) for testing, isolation, and recovery advice.
- If you are missing classes during your isolation period, kindly contact our front desk at contact@sejong.com.sg to find out if there are makeup lessons available to replace the classes you are missing.
If a student is a close contacts / is on HRN:
- In accordance with the government’s Health Protocols 1-2-3 (above), please ensure that you take an ART for the relevant period before attending on-campus classes.
If your teacher tests positive but is well:
- If your class teacher tests positive but is well enough to work, his/her on-campus classes will be pivoted online for the duration that she is in isolation. The class will be conducted at its usual timeslot via ZOOM instead of on-campus. Our administration will be contacting the students in the class to check if they are able to attend class online for the affected lesson(s), or work out a makeup class alternative for the students who are unable to attend their class online.
If your teacher tests positive but is unwell:
- We will arrange for a relief teacher to cover your class where possible.
UPDATED ON-CAMPUS SAFE MANAGEMENT MEASURES (SMM)
- Weekly ART Tests Requirements for Private Tuition and Enrichment Centre Staff: no longer required
- Safe Entry: All students and visitors will be required to check-in and out on TraceTogether when entering or exiting school premises.
- Social Distancing Measures
- Restrictions on Use of Common Waiting Areas: The school will be closing the common areas / waiting areas on school premises to prevent crowding. Students are encouraged not to enter school premises until 5 minutes before the start of class. It is advisable to arrive just in time for class instead of arriving early and waiting in the school common areas. Common waiting areas will be reserved for students with appointments with their teachers or with the school admin office.
- Restrictions on Food, Drink & Social Events: Students are advised not to eat and drink in class as this would require them to take their masks off. In-class social events such as birthday celebrations, teacher’s day celebrations et cetera will only be allowed if all participants keep their masks on at all times.
- Reducing Intermingling of Classes: We will allocate at least 15 minutes between classes. This is to allow adequate time to disinfect classroom surfaces, and to ensure strict separation of individuals from different classes.
- Health & Hygiene Related Measures
- SG Clean Certification: Our main campus premises is “SG Clean” Certified by the NEA, with regular inspections by NEA officers conducted on an annual renewal basis. Our current certification is valid until 30 June 2023.
- Daily Wipe Down Routine: Teachers will facilitate wipe down of all classroom tables at the end of every class in the school. This ensures that surfaces that students are in contact with are free from any harmful pathogens.
- Mask On Requirements: Social distancing within indoor mask-on settings is no longer required. Students are reminded to keep their masks on at all times within school campus compounds.
- School-Wide Bleach Disinfection Thrice Weekly: In addition to the classroom disinfection before the start of every single class daily, we will also be conducting school-wide bleach disinfection three times per week. The disinfection will cover all classrooms, staff rooms, and common areas. The disinfection solution used is in accordance with NEA guidelines (1 part household bleach : 49 parts water).
- Daily Dry Mist Disinfection of Counter Areas: The school has invested in 2 Biocair Dry Mist Disinfectant Machines. Each machine is purported to spray disinfecting fine air mist that has a higher disinfecting kill rate (99.999%) of harmful pathogens than alcohol disinfection (99.9%). The active ingredient in the disinfection solution used is BC-65. It kills bacteria, viruses and spores within 60 seconds of contact. The machines will be installed in the office and general administration area in the school.
- Hand Sanitizers at Stoppage Points: Hand sanitizers will be provided at all human traffic stoppage points in the school such as the administration front desk and attendance tables. Students are encouraged to bring their own stationery and pens to use in class and to sign attendance at the attendance table. If using the school’s shared pens, stationery or materials, please remember to sanitize your hands thoroughly before and after use.
- Daily Ventilation and Indoor Air Purging: All classrooms in our main campus are open-door ventilated overnight. Additionally, we conduct regular indoor-air purging at our main campus units over most regular group class occupancy periods from 7pm – 11pm from Monday to Thursday (during regular class occupancy period), and over the weekend, Saturday 1pm – Monday 8am.
The safety of our students is of paramount importance in Sejong. We will be grateful for our students’ cooperation in helping to safeguard the Sejong community.
[11 OCT 2021] STABILISATION PHASE: RESUMPTION OF ON CAMPUS CLASSES WITH STRICT SMM
The Multi-Ministry Taskforce has announced Singapore’s move to the Stabilisation Phase while transitioning towards the national Living with COVID-19 plan. The Ministry of Education required all tuition & enrichment centres (catering to students aged 12yo & below) to conduct online classes between 27 September to 10 October 2021, and continue to encourage such centres, who predominantly cater to the unvaccinated age group of 12yo and under to continue to do so until the end of the Stabilisation Phase. Private schools that are not under the “tuition & enrichment centre” category (cater to students aged 12yo and below) are allowed to continue campus operations during this phase. However, as an extra precaution, SEJONG decided to pivot to online classes for the first 2 weeks of the Stabilisation Phase starting late September, in line with the primary school’s switch to home-based learning for 2 weeks. We would like to thank our student community for their cooperation in attending online classes for those 2 weeks. SEJONG will resume on-campus classes from 11 October 2021, and will be aligning our in-house Safe Management Measures to the government’s recently announced plans for Living with COVID-19 and the New Normal in Singapore.
UPDATED ON-CAMPUS SAFE MANAGEMENT MEASURES (SMM)
- Weekly ART Tests Requirements for Private Tuition and Enrichment Centre Staff
- As part of Singapore’s national efforts to mitigate the risk of transmission of COVID-19, enterprises in the Private Tuition and Enrichment Sector are required to comply with the FET 7- day regime, as well as the VoRT regime. All SEJONG staff complete the ART test requirement and upload our results on a weekly basis.
- Safe Entry, Travel & Health
- All students and visitors will be required to check-in and out on TraceTogether when entering or exiting school premises. With effect from 17 May 2021, all students can only check in with either their TraceTogether Tokens or TraceTogether app.
- Persons who have returned from overseas who are serving SHN must not come to school premises for the duration of their SHN.
- Persons who are feeling unwell, exhibit a fever or display respiratory symptoms, are strictly prohibited from entering school premises and are advised to seek immediate medical attention. If you have a family member who is unwell with respiratory symptoms, we ask for your cooperation to ensure that your family member seeks proper health treatment or test negative in an ART or PCR test before you come to campus.
- Persons who have been served a Health Risk Warning (HRW), Health Risk Alert (HRA), Leave of Absence (LOA), Approved Absence (AA), Home Quarantine Order (HQO), or Stay Home Notice (SHN) are not allowed to come to school premises for the duration of the applicable period.
- All the above-affected students may arrange for make-up class with an online class, or on-campus class scheduled for after the risk period. Please seek our administration’s assistance for help in covering lessons you will be missing.
- Students who are in at-risk occupations (such as front line medical staff) are encouraged to test regularly, monitor for onset of symptoms vigilantly, and use personal discretion and responsibility to determine whether their attending on-campus classes will pose a risk to the wider school community. Students in these occupations who would like to explore online class alternatives may approach our administration for available options.
- Social Distancing Measures
- Alternated Seating: Students will be required to maintain a 1m distance from each other at all times. In order to facilitate this, we have arranged for alternated seating in our classrooms, with each seat being 1.2m apart from one another. Seats are demarcated accordingly and we request students to seat themselves so that there is an empty seat between them.
- No Intermingling of Classes: There will be strict separation of students in different classrooms at all times with no intermingling. Teachers will be releasing classes that use the same exit point in a staggered manner. We seek your cooperation to wait for your teacher’s cue on when to exit the classroom at the end of class.
- Closure of Common Waiting Areas: The school will be closing the common areas / waiting areas on school premises to prevent crowding. Students are encouraged not to enter school premises until 5 minutes before the start of class. It is advisable to arrive just in time for class instead of arriving early and waiting in the school common areas. Common waiting areas will be reserved for students with appointments with their teachers or with the school admin office.
- Food, Drink & Social Events Prohibited Within School Compounds: Students are advised not to eat and drink in class as this would require them to take their masks off. In-class social events such as birthday celebrations, teacher’s day celebrations et cetera will also not be allowed for the time being until further notice.
- Minimisation of Contact with Teachers / Instructors: Teachers are advised to minimise contact with students. If some interaction is unavoidable, contact with students should be transient. Tutors / instructors should remain at the front of the class as much as is practicable.
- Classroom Capacity: As per MOE’s guideline, no single room within a centre should hold more than 50 persons, including tutors/instructors, even as the above measures are adopted. SEJONG ensures that no single room holds more than 20 persons, including tutors / instructors.
- Class Timings: We will allocate at least 15 minutes between classes. This is to allow adequate time to disinfect classroom surfaces, and to ensure strict separation of individuals from different classes.
- Health & Hygiene Related Measures
- Daily Alcohol Wipe Down Routine: Teachers will facilitate wipe down of all classroom tables and chairs at the start and end of every class in the school. This ensures that surfaces that students are in contact with are free from any harmful pathogens.
- Mandatory Masks: All persons entering school premises will be required to wear a face mask that covers their nose, mouth and sides of their face. Students who have broken or damaged their masks during class may approach our front counter for a disposable mask. Any persons who do not have a mask or refuses to wear a mask will be turned away. Face shields may be used on top of wearing a mask but cannot replace mask usage.
- School-Wide Bleach Disinfection Thrice Weekly: In addition to the classroom alcohol disinfection before the start of every single class daily, we will also be conducting school-wide bleach disinfection three times per week. The disinfection will cover all classrooms, staff rooms, and common areas. The disinfection solution used is in accordance with NEA guidelines (1 part household bleach : 49 parts water).

Students are encouraged to bring their own stationery and pens to use in class and to sign attendance at the attendance table. If using the school’s shared pens, stationery or materials, please remember to sanitize your hands thoroughly before and after use.
- SDST Disinfection Coating on Door Handles: All door handles in the school are sprayed with SDST self-disinfectant coating that lasts for 90 days from the date of every application. The self disinfectant coating inactivates viruses, kills bacteria and fungi upon contact. It remains in place even with repeated cleaning as its chemical bonding agents help it to adhere to surfaces at a molecular level. The product we are using is the same used by Changi Airport Group and that is being sprayed on all HDB lift buttons. It is effective for 3 months and is safe on human skin. We request that our students do not try to use hard or sharp objects (such as keys) to open the doors as it may scrape off the protective coating.
- Visual Health Inspections on School Premises: Staff and teachers will be extremely vigilant in conducting visual inspections of all students attending classes. Any student who appears unwell will not be permitted to attend class and will be turned away from school premises. Students who are feeling unwell and who display flu-like symptoms are advised to seek immediate medical attention and to abstain coming for classes.

We promise to bring all on-campus classes back as soon as it is deemed safe to do so. For now, our students’ safety is our top priority. Our teachers are experienced in conducting fun, interactive and effective online classes and will continue to deliver quality lessons to you in the safety of your homes.
Full admin support will still be available during the online period, students may continue to make enquiries, payments of fees, request for and collect certificates, and arrange for make-up lessons. However, kindly note that there will be slight changes to the Monday / Tuesday class schedules available for makeup lessons due to the postponement of on-campus Monday / Tuesday classes on 17 & 18 May 2021.
Students who have trouble attending classes online may reach out to our front desk at contact@sejong.com.sg or via Whatsapp at 8688 8803, and we will try our best to find a solution for you.
As we are experiencing a high volume of calls, emails, and messages, we ask for your kind understanding and patience while waiting for replies.

Teachers will no longer be walking around the classroom while teaching or interacting with students. Teachers will be stationed at the front of the classroom to maintain adequate distance while teaching. Students may choose to wear a face shield for added protection, but it has to be worn in addition to a mask, not in replacement of one.
- School-Wide Disinfection Thrice Weekly: In addition to the classroom disinfection before the start of every single class daily, we will also be conducting school-wide bleach disinfection three times per week. The disinfection will cover all classrooms, staff rooms, and common areas.
- Dry Mist Disinfection of Counter Areas: The school has invested in 2 Biocair Dry Mist Disinfectant Machines.
If using the school’s shared pens, stationery or materials, please remember to sanitize your hands thoroughly.
Safety of our students is of paramount importance in Sejong. We will be grateful for our students’ cooperation in helping to safeguard the Sejong community.
[6 JULY 2020] SG SAFE REOPENING PLAN / PHASE 2
The Singapore government has announced the commencement of Phase 2 of Singapore’s safe reopening period, from 19 June 2020. Private schools will be allowed to resume physical operations from that date, with social distancing measures in place. As previously announced, Sejong will be resuming full campus operations from 13 July 2020.
RESUMPTION OF CLASSES
Private lesson students who have been attending classes online may opt to return to campus from 1 July 2020.
Our newly incepted “fully online” classes (new class type introduced in response to the COVID crisis) will remain online even as we resume full campus operations, as they were proposed as an online class from the outset.
Our pre-existing on-campus group classes (classes that were conducted on-campus before but were moved online over the circuit breaker in Singapore), have been given the option to vote for their class to either remain online or return to campus from 13 July 2020. The voting deadline closed on 30 June 2020. Our school administration will be tallying student votes and announcing the results to individual classes (minimum 75% vote required to remain online). Tentatively, we are proposing that the classes choosing to remain online, continue attending classes via e-learning until the end of Phase 2, subject to changes and further developments in the COVID-19 situation in Singapore. If all goes well, we expect to have all classes return to campus by Phase 3 of Singapore’s safe reopening plan.
ADJUSTED TIMINGS FOR CLASSES
The Ministry of Education in Singapore has advised private schools to ensure sufficient turn around time between on campus classes to facilitate health and travel declarations, temperature taking and wipe down routines. Sejong will be making slight adjustments to our class timings to meet this requirement. Kindly take note that we will be standardising the adjusted class timings for both our online and on-campus classes. Even though the precautionary routines are do not affect online classes, our teachers require the time to toggle between virtual and on-campus class rooms as well as set up online class meeting rooms between virtual classes. We hope for our student’s understanding on the adjusted timings, as our school operations evolve in the pandemic climate and we implement precautionary measures in our school routines. Students who have difficulty meeting the adjusted timings may reach out to our administration and we will work with you on finding a class that better suits your schedule.
MANDATORY ON-CAMPUS PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES
When we resume on-campus operations, precautionary measures for travel and health declarations, disinfection, hygiene and wipe down routines, and social distancing requirements will remain in place. We require all students to closely abide by the measures in place on-campus at all times.
- Safe Entry, Travel & Health Declarations
- All students and visitors will be required to check-in and out on the Safe Entry portal (via QR code) when entering or exiting school premises
- All students and visitors will also be required to complete a travel and health declaration (via QR code) before commencing class, or interacting with any member of Sejong’s community (staff & students)
- Persons who have returned from overseas must not come to school premises for 14 days from date of arrival in Singapore
- Persons who are feeling unwell, exhibit a fever or display respiratory symptoms, are strictly prohibited from entering school premises and are advised to seek immediate medical attention
- Persons who are serving LOA, SHN, or HQO are not allowed to attend class for the duration of their stay-home / quarantine period.
- Persons who are close contacts or household members of persons serving LOA, SHN or HQO are advised to abstain from attending classes on-campus. You may arrange for makeup class with an online class if possible, or seek our administration’s assistance in covering lessons you will be missing.
- Students who are in at-risk occupations (such as front line medical staff, flight attendants) are encouraged to monitor for onset of symptoms vigilantly, and use personal discretion and responsibility to determine whether their attending on-campus classes will pose a risk to the wider school community. If you would like to transfer to an online class during this period, you may contact our administration via email, WhatsApp or ZOOM consultation for assistance.
2. Social Distancing Measures
- Alternated Seating: In order to maintain adequate distance between students, we will be arranging for alternated seating in all classrooms. Teachers will be facilitating the spacing of students in the classroom. We request students to seat themselves so that there is an empty seat between them. Only students who are prior contacts of one another (friends, relatives, or partners who would have already had prior contact with each other) will be allowed to sit adjacent to each other.

- The school will be restricting crowding at the school’s common waiting areas before the start of class. Students are encouraged not to enter school premises until 5 minutes before the start of class. It is advisable to time your travel to arrive just in time for class, instead of arriving early and waiting in the school common areas.

The following group classes will be moved online until 30 April 2020:

There has been some confusion about whether or not Sejong is required by the government to suspend all classes. The government has announced that all centre-based tuition and enrichment centres for school-going aged minors (below 18yo) are to be suspended until 30 April 2020. Sejong is an MOE registered private school whose students’ demographic is mostly adult aged learners (above 18yo). We have confirmed with the MOE officer in charge of our private school registration that we are not required to suspend school operations during this period (more information can be found on MOE website at https://www.moe.gov.sg/faqs-covid-19-infection#q8lnm). However, the handful of school-going aged students we may have in our school will have to be suspended from attending on-campus classes until 30 April 2020. Our administration will contact the affected students separately to make arrangements.
Although we are not required by the government to suspend our classes until 30 April 2020, due to recent COVID-19 developments, our management has decided to move all group classes online for the month of April. Private lessons for adult learners are allowed to continue on-campus as there is a small number of participants in the class. The existing in-school precautionary measures for travel and health declarations, disinfection, hygiene and wipe down routines, and social distancing requirements will remain in place for any private lessons conducted on-campus.
Please see details on the in-school precautionary measures taken by our school below. We require all students to closely abide by the measures in place on-campus at all times.

[19 MAR 2020] UPDATED TRAVEL ADVISORY: KEEPING OUR SCHOOL SAFE
Travel & Health Declarations
Yesterday, the Singapore Government announced new Travel Advisories and Stay Home Notice (SHN) requirements for all travellers returning to Singapore from 20 March 2020, 11:59pm onwards. Students who are affected by this new measure will be eligible for Leave of Absence (LOA) from Sejong to cover their SHN period. Enhanced flexible makeup lesson arrangements will be made available to all affected students during this period.
Additionally, Government representatives have noted that many travellers have returned or are returning to Singapore before the new SHN and travel advisory takes effect on 20 March 2020, 11:59pm. These travellers are likewise advised to stay away from gatherings and monitor their health for the time being. Given this recommendation, Sejong will be implementing the additional precautionary measure of requesting for all students who have returned from overseas (anywhere in the world excepting land and sea travel from Malaysia) from 7 March 2020 onwards, to abstain from attending classes for 14 days from the date of your return to Singapore. Previously, we only advised student travellers returning from certain affected countries to abstain from class. To reiterate, we would like to request that as of today, students who have travelled in the past 2 weeks are requested to abstain from coming to class until 2 weeks from your date of return.
We hope for all affected students cooperation during this period. The safety of Sejong’s students and staff is of our highest priority and we believe that these additional measures, though disruptive in the short term, will help ensure the safety of our community.
Kindly contact our front desk with the date of your return and we will assist with makeup lesson arrangements. Enhanced flexible makeup lesson options are available to all affected students during this period. We will do our best to minimize any disruption of affected student’s Korean language studies.
