Claim UTAP funding for SKLS Beginners 1 Term 1 courses
Only Regular Group Beginners 1 Term 1 (B1T1) courses, both online and on-campus, are eligible for UTAP funding up until the expiry date as indicated on the UTAP website. Please click here to guidelines for UTAP funding for our B1T1 courses.
Regular NTUC members can claim up to $250 per calendar year, while members aged 40 and above can claim up to $500 per year, capped at 50% of the unfunded course fee.
Students may claim UTAP funding until 31 March 2025. UTAP eligibility extends to all NTUC members who have an active paid-up union membership before course commencement, during the course, and at the time of the claim. Additionally, the course must not be funded through company sponsorship or other types of funding, and the unfunded course fee must be at least S$20.

Step 1: Register for any UTAP-approved SKLS course online
Certain courses on our website are approved for UTAP funding. The courses on our courses page with the following icon are eligible for UTAP funding. If you intend on utilising UTAP funding for this course, please ensure you meet UTAP eligibility guidelines. Eg. Be an active NTUC member prior to course commencement, for the duration of the course up until claim disbursement. Application for NTUC membership may be made here. Membership approval is usually immediate. NTUC Membership cost $117 per year, as of November 2024. Please check NTUC website for updated fees.
Students will have to place a $100 downpayment toward the course when registering online in order to reserve a seat for the course first. The remainder balance will be due on the first lesson of your term.
Step 2: Registered course completion
- After the completion of your registered term, please write in to contact@sejong.com.sg informing us of your intent to make a claim under UTAP funding. We will provide you with the necessary documents to submit together with your claim. SEJONG will be able to provide students with a Statement of Attendance showing student’s attendance rate and test completion and results on request.
- Do note that UTAP claims have to be submitted within 6 months from the completion of your registered term. Students will need to be active NTUC members, including having a paid-up union membership at the point of registration, during the course and at the time of the claim.
- As of September 2024, UTAP guidelines state the following. These guidelines may be changed at any time, kindly check the UTAP link for the most updated and accurate guidelines:
- NTUC member/ NTUC Starter member must commence the course or complete the assessment within UTAP approved period.
- NTUC member/ NTUC Starter member must submit either certificate of completion of training and assessment or training attendance sheets showing at least 75% attendance for the course(s) and sit for all prescribed examination(s) if any.
- NTUC member/ NTUC Starter member must submit claims via UTAP system within 6 months after course/ assessment completion.
- NTUC member/ NTUC Starter member must not claim any other funding through company sponsorship or other types of funding.
- NTUC member/ NTUC Starter member must have paid-up NTUC membership before course/ assessment commencement, throughout the entire course/ assessment duration and at the point of claim.
Step 3: Submit your UTAP claim application through NTUC portal
- To submit a claim, please log into NTUC portal with your account.
- Navigate to ‘e-Services‘
- Click on “Apply here” under Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP) and submit the UTAP application form and the necessary documentation.
- Please ensure all required documents are submitted to avoid delays or rejection of claim. All late claims will be rejected.
Step 4: Disbursement of UTAP funds
- All disbursements will be made directly from UTAP. For any enquires/claim application update, please contact UTAP directly.
- UTAP funding is typically processed and disbursed within 4 to 6 weeks.
Important to Note:
- Students and enquirers will be responsible for the application and approval process, SEJONG does not guarantee eligibility or success of students’ applications for funding.
- UTAP guidelines, trainee eligibility, application terms and approval terms are solely determined by NTUC, kindly approach NTUC directly for all UTAP application, status and funding disbursement related enquiries.
- SEJONG will be able to provide students with a Statement of Attendance showing the student’s attendance rate and test completion and results on request. Kindly let us know if you require the statement for UTAP application-related purposes and we will format the statement accordingly.
- Please take note that SEJONG’s listed course fee amount on UTAP is currently $388.80 (which was our course fee of $360 + 8% GST) as we applied for the UTAP programme in 2023 before the GST hike. SEJONG will lodge a request to change the listed amount to $392.40 (our course fee of $360 + the current GST rate of 9%), subject to the approval of UTAP. For now, kindly take notice that the listed amount on UTAP is $388.80 for relevant courses, and the maximum 50% course fee eligible for funding will be in relation to this amount until further notice.
